Become a member of EuroJews
As many of you are aware, EuroJews was established in 2003, for the celebration of Purim in Budapest. For this event, 25 of you traveled from all over Europe to gather together in this beautiful and historical city to connect with other progressive Jews, celebrate the holidays, and share your backgrounds and knowledge of Judaism together. Since then, EuroJews events have taken place in Milan, Barcelona, Amsterdam, Prague, and Copenhagen, where the local communities have hosted religious services and joined in with cultural activities. We’ve spent Purim, Chanukah, and a summer vacation weekend together; we’ve hosted concerts and even recorded a European Shabbos CD.
I hope that throughout this time you have all had the opportunity to benefit from the organization; you’ve made new friends, learned more about your religion – the religious, cultural, educational, and historical aspects – and found a community you can relate with. At Purim 2003, EuroJews had 25 participants, today more than 150 of you have participated in events, and 500 have shown interest through e-mail contact. Every year we have grown, and the future looks to be a promising time where we can only continue to develop and expand. Our plans for 2007 include the celebration of Chanukkah in Paris, a cemetery restoration project in Poland, a late Bar/Bat Mitzvah program for interested members, and the recording and release of a second EuroJews CD. There is a lot in store for the future - a lot that you and the progressive Jewish community as a whole can benefit from. To ensure the continuing development of EuroJews and the future of the progressive Jewish community in Europe, we need your support.
With the start of the Jewish New Year 5766, EuroJews decided to launch a membership campaign. This will support the growth and enhancement of the EuroJews community. With your contributions, we will be able to offer more scholarships to events, allowing increased participation; we will be able to improve the content of each event, offering more educational, religious, and leadership workshops led by Jewish professionals; we will be able to develop an effective and efficient administration that can best cater to your specific needs and desires. To make these objectives attainable, we need your support. We ask for members to pay 20 euros and friends--those who are able to contribute a bit more--to pay 200 euros annually. This contribution will not only play a vital role in the enhancement of the EuroJews community, but will also be beneficial to you: some membership benefits will include price reductions to EuroJews events and access to the membership forum on the website.
From each event you’ve attended, we hope that you’ve been able to take something valuable away – a new friendship, a growing Jewish identity, a piece of knowledge, a connection to your religion. We ask now for you to give something back to the community, for you to actively support the future of EuroJews and the progressive Jewish community in Europe. If you have any questions or would like to register as a member, please contact David Moskovic at david(at)eurojews.org
