EuroJews was established in Budapest 2003 as a real and virtual community for European Progressive Jewish young adults.
1. To provide a community, representing the European progressive Jewish young adult population, which enables its members to develop and maintain a Jewish identity and a feeling of belonging in the greater Jewish family.
2. To increase members’ knowledge of Judaism through participation in religious services and educational workshops and experiencing first-hand the many faces of Jewish culture and religious practices across the European continent.
3. To support the growth of young and emerging Jewish communities throughout Europe.
1. Administration
The four directors, who have volunteered themselves for their positions, are responsible for the financial aspects, creating and managing events, the newsletter, publicity, website maintenance, and membership. As the directors are based in different countries, administrative duties are conducted via the internet.
2. Membership
Membership is required to participate in events. Members should be Jewish, living in Europe and between the ages of 18-35, though exceptions can be made on an individual basis. Annual membership fees are €20, these contribute to the running costs of the website--including the membership forum--which acts as a virtual center for the EuroJews community.
1. Regular Events
Each year events are held in a different city in Europe to celebrate Purim and Chanukkah and meet in the summer. These events are planned and managed by the EuroJews administration in cooperation with the local progressive Jewish community. Events include, but are not limited to participation in Religious services, educational workshops, and a Jewish tour of the city.
2. Special Events
Under certain circumstances, special events are held to ensure the continuity of the Jewish music culture, and to increase the support of struggling Jewish communities.
